Ronald Sham MD
Ron has lived in Rochester since 1984 having moved from Philadelphia to do his medical residency and fellowship. He has worked as a hematologist at Rochester General Hospital for 20 years and is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester. He is married and has three children ages 19, 22 and 24. His interest in the Holocaust dates back to his childhood as he spent summers in the Catskills surrounded by many Auschwitz survivors. His maternal grandmother left Eastern Poland as a teenager. Her siblings who remained in Europe (and their entire families-14 family members in total) were killed in 1942 either by execution or at the Belzec extermination camp. He has devoted years reading and studying about this period in history and is honored to be a part of this course.
